Our StoryLife Spring Community Church was started in humble beginnings. In August of 1999, a group of about 16 people began holding bible studies in Simpsonville as preparation for a new church. This little band was commissioned and sent out by Greenville First Church of the Nazarene as the beginning of a new church. The small band met on Sunday evenings in the conference room of the Comfort Inn in Simpsonville while continuing attending Sunday morning worship at First Church. In September, Pastor Bill Higgins, along with Kevin Ulmet, the pastor of First Church, presented the concept of a new Simpsonville church to the Greenville congregation. At that point, several more joined and the group grew to about 31. The plan was to begin by holding bible studies on Sunday nights and then slowly graduate to morning worship services in Simpsonville, introducing only one preview morning worship service a month. The first preview service was held on October 17, with 50 in attendance; the second on November 14, with 70 in attendance. The fledgling church was growing. After the November preview service, it was discovered that the church needed weekly worship services rather than one morning service a month. This pushed things ahead faster than scheduled. On February 6, 2000, Life Spring held its Grand Opening. The service was advertised by radio, newspaper, signs, a 26,000 piece bulk mailing, and personal invitation. There were 83 in that worship service. Five people made commitments or recommitment's to God. Half of the people there were from the core group, The other half came from our advertising. New people came for many Sundays after the Grand Opening, and the church slowly grew each month.
Life Spring is continuing to grow. In September, 2005 we moved to our current location, 437 Holland Rd. The church is growing as new people are joining the Life Spring family. Come check out what God is doing. Maybe you will find something you are looking for. |
